BRANCH COUNTY, MI (WTVB) – The lights suddenly went out for over 3,800 Consumers Energy customers in the western part of Branch County and another 3,700 in St. Joseph County on Wednesday morning.
The outages were first reported at about 6:45 a.m. and were mainly between Colon and the Branch County Memorial Airport.
The entire City of Bronson was without power for a time. Bronson Community Schools were forced to delay classes by two hours.
Crews from Consumer’s Energy were able to restore power within a couple of hours.
Consumer’s Energy spokesman Brian Wheeler says their crews found and repaired a downed wire. Wheeler did not have the exact location but he added they are investigating what brought the wire down in the first place.
Wednesday’s power outage was the second within the last few days in Branch County. An apparent transformer problem caused about 1,000 Consumer’s Energy customers to lose their power in the Girard area on Sunday.
It’s not rocket science. Its all about line maintenance.
