UNION CITY, MI (WTVB) – The Village of Union City announced on Wednesday that the congregate meal program at the Union City Senior Center will start on Tuesday, January 16.
The Senior Center will have meals available on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. excluding county approved holidays for seniors. The meals are being made available through a program with the Burnside Center.
They are available to any area senior which is 60-years-old or older for a suggested donation of $3. Meals are $7 for those under the age of 60.
Drinks will be provided.
The Branch County Commission on Aging Board of Directors voted during their October meeting to authorize Executive Director Amy Duff move forward with an expansion to their current congregate lunch program for Branch County seniors. This was followed by a partnership between the Union City Senior Center and the C.O.A..
The current restaurant voucher program is in the process of being phased out.
Nutrition Director Michael Searing said, “Switching from our current restaurant voucher program to the new congregate dining site will allow us to more effectively serve the seniors of Branch County.”
