QUINCY, MI (WTVB) – The Bronson Vikings used a 21-10 fourth quarter rally to defeat the Quincy Orioles 64-55 on Thursday night in a Big 8 Conference varsity boys’ basketball game.
Quincy led the entire game until the fourth quarter comeback by the Vikings. The Orioles led 15-13 after the first quarter, 31-27 at halftime, and 45-43 at the end of the third.
Bronson’s Kam Brackett and Saylor Wotta both had a double-doubles.
Brackett had 30 points and 11 rebounds as he is now averaging over 28 points a game. Wotta finished with 14 points and 11 rebounds.
Quincy was led by Brandon Miner who scored 21 points and grabbed four rebounds. Grant Carter recorded a double-double as well with 11 points and 11 rebounds. He also dished out five assists and had two blocked shots. Ryan Kempter added nine points for the Orioles.
Bronson is now 6-2 overall and 3-1 in the Big 8. Quincy drops to 5-4 overall and 1-2 in the conference.
Bronson also won the J.V. game over Quincy 50-44.
Quincy is back in action at home on Monday against the Mendon Hornets. Because of the Michigan national championship game against Washington, the game times have been moved up. The J.V. game will start at 4:00 p.m. with varsity to follow at about 5:30 p.m..
In underclassmen basketball on Thursday night, Coldwater’s boys J.V. team defeated Holt in double overtime 59-56. Julian Thompson led Coldwater with 17 points and 20 rebounds. Jakyi Brown Abston added 15 points for the Cardinals. The Coldwater Boys JV record is 5-4.
The Coldwater freshman boys basketball team lost to Holt 55 to 25. Joe Hayward lead Coldwater with 15 points and 11 rebounds.
The Coldwater freshman girls basketball team defeated Holt 20-19. TK Boyd led Coldwater with 11 points.
