Kevin “Spanky” J. Smoker, 67, of Bronson, passed away Sunday, January 7, 2024, presenting his mother in heaven with a big surprise on her birthday.
A service will be held Thursday, January 11, 2024 at Dutcher Funeral Home in Bronson at 11:30 a.m. with Deacon John Wielgos officiating.
A memorial visitation will be held Wednesday, January 10, 2024 at Dutcher Funeral Home in Bronson from 4:00-7:00 p.m. with Rosary to follow at 7:00 p.m. led by Deacon John Wielgos. If possible, he would love to see Notre Dame attire on anyone coming to his visitation.
Kevin was born May 27, 1956, to Eugene and Roberta (German) Smoker in Sturgis, MI. He spent most of time as a long haul truck driver, retiring from Behnke Trucking. Spanky was a member of St. Mary of Assumption Church in Bronson, a former member of the Knights of Columbus, and the Teamsters Union.
Spank was a diehard Notre Dame fan and supported Bronson High School athletic teams, unless they were playing his beloved Coldwater High School girls basketball team.
He enjoyed spending his time watching western movies and television shows, especially his favorite, Gunsmoke, playing scrabble and card games, going to the casino, and watching his nieces and nephews sporting events when he wasn’t on the road.
Kevin is survived by his siblings Chistine (Dick) Cary of Bronson, MI, Joan (Dave) Hurley of Bronson, MI, Lu Ann (Doug) Nelson of Adrian, MI, Pam (Dennis) Miller of LaGrange, IN, Ken (Ann) Smoker of Coldwater, MI, and Mick Smoker of Bronson MI; his nieces and nephews Jennifer (Chris) Zepke, Elizabeth (Jeff) Feinberg, Lori (Eddie) Tabor, Kristopher (April) Hurley, Kelly (Thomas Hart) Hurley, Dana (Joel) Eisinger, Grant Nelson, Matthew (Skye) Miller, Katelyn (Brett) Yoder, Carlee (Sawyer Maddox) Smoker, Brent Smoker, Emilee Smoker, Tyler (Darcy) Smoker, Brooke (Mykal) Kline, and many great, and great-great nieces and nephews; and his step mom Judy Smoker.
In addition to his parents, Kevin was preceded in death by his 2 infant brothers, Donald and Joseph Smoker, nephew Mickenzie Smoker and his best friend, Clyde Kibiloski.
Memorials may be made to Coldwater High School Girls Basketball and St. Mary of Assumption Church.
