QUINCY, MI (WTVB) – The Quincy School Board of Education selected Chelsea Lofton to fill a vacant board position during a special meeting on Monday night.
Seven persons expressed an interest to fill the open position after Board Vice-President Greg Richer’s recent resignation.
He resigned on December 22 after serving on the board for eight years. His resignation letter provided no reason why he decided to step down.
Besides Lofton, the other candidates were Vanessa Crandall, Dee Dee Davenport, Rich Field, Bryan Lah, Jim Supianoski and Dennis Taylor.
Lofton will serve out the balance of Richer’s term which ends on December 31, 2024.
She is be eligible to seek election to a full six year term on this November’s ballot. The six-year term would begin on January 1, 2025.
In addition to filling the vacant position, the Quincy School Board also held their organizational meeting for 2024 on Monday night. Tim Miller will serve as the Board President while Brian Preston will be the Vice President, Shawnna Craig will be the Secretary and Jordan Oiler will be the Treasurer.
