LANSING, MI (WTVB) – Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel announced Thursday that a Union City man has been charged with 10 counts for alleged criminal enterprise, embezzlement, and tax evasion.
It is alleged by the State that 67-year-old David White embezzled over $300,000 from a trust between 2014 and 2019.
White was named the co-trustee of the John Stirling White Trust upon the death of his father.
According to a press release from the Attorney General’s office, the assets held in the trust were never distributed to the several beneficiaries due to ongoing litigation. White allegedly maintained control over the income, expenses, and access to financial records.
He was removed as co-trustee in 2019 by the probate court due to non-compliance with court orders to produce financial accountings for the trust, and an investigation was subsequently conducted by the Department of Attorney General.
White will next appear before the 6th Circuit Court in Oakland County for an arraignment on a date yet to be set.
