Denise “Nitzie” P. Cholka, 62, formerly of Coldwater and Bronson passed away at the Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center January 4, 2024.
Funeral services will take place Saturday, January 6, 2024 at 12:00 p.m. at the Buswell Funeral Home in Black River Falls, Wisconsin. Her son, Eric Everest will officiate. Friends and family are invited to visitation from 11:00 a.m. until time of service.
She was born to Donald and Polly Cholka on March 31, 1961 in Cleveland, Ohio and then raised in Michigan.
Denise graduated from Bronson High School in 1979. She moved between Michigan and Wisconsin depending on where work took her. Working various jobs doing whatever she could to support her son, Eric. Whether it was factory work or at the casino.
She was a 5’1” stick of dynamite that everyone knew as “Nitzie”. She was a fun, loving woman, and naturally ‘the life of the party’ and had a joke to tell. Denise was kind beyond measure and always wanting to help where she could, and always putting others before herself. She was always a free spirit; never had one place that she would call home.
She is survived by her son, Eric Everest; brothers, Harry (Veronica) Cholka, Phil Cholka, Steve Cholka, and Don Cholka; sisters, Toni/ Maureen (John) Kachnowski, and Rosemarie Adams; uncles Terry Steindorf and John (Beth) Steindorf; cousin Karena (Dana) Thundercloud; and great niece Raven La Morie; along with many other relatives and friends.
Denise was preceded in death by her infant daughter Deitre Lee Everest; dad, Donald Cholka; brother, Joseph Cholka; grandmother Lavina Davis; along with many other aunts and uncles.
The Buswell Funeral Home, Black River Falls, Wisconsin is assisting the family with arrangements. (715)284-2231.
