Guy Edwin Cobb, 92, went to be with his Heavenly Father January 26, 2024, after a brief struggle with pneumonia.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, January 30, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at the Eagle Funeral Home-George White Chapel in Quincy with Pastor Rachel Labram officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery in Coldwater.
Visitation will be Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
Guy was born on September 15, 1931, to Edwin H. and Edith B. (Gill) Cobb in St. Louis, MO. The family moved to Coldwater, MI when he was an infant. Guy graduated from Coldwater High School in 1949, and he served in the Navy from 1950-1954. During high school, and after he was discharged from the Navy, he worked at Dally Tire Co. in Coldwater.
He married Joyce E. Adams September 11, 1955, and she survives.
Guy retired from the Coldwater State Home in 1987 after 32 years of service, first working in the power plant and later as the Physical Plant Supervisor. He and Joyce moved to Cathedral City, CA in 1987. In 1999, they moved back to Branch County after renovating the farmhouse in Quincy where Joyce grew up.
Guy is survived by his wife, Joyce; his children Brian A. (AdaMarie Smith) Cobb of Arlington, VA, Jill A. Cobb of Coldwater, MI, and Jeffrey L. (Denise Houck) Cobb of Zeeland, MI; his grandchildren, Maryssa L. (Bryan) Cobb-Sherburn of Lafayette, CO, Tylar Edwin Cobb of Arvada, CO, LT Spencer Guy Cobb of Honolulu, HI, and Marlee Ann (Devri Langhelm) Cobb of Mesa, AZ.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his two-year old son, Gary, in 1959, and his sister-in-law, Janice Burlew.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be directed to Quincy United Methodist Church.
