Duard John Martin, 78, of Union City passed away Wednesday, February 14, 2024, at Drews Place of Coldwater, surrounded by his family.
A memorial mass will take place at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 17, 2024 at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church, 8220 M-60, Union City, MI, 49094, with Rev. Fr. Dan Hyman as the celebrant. Interment will take place at a later date at Riverside Cemetery in Union City.
A gathering of family and friends will be held from 4:00-6:00 p.m. Friday, February 16, 2024 at Lighthouse Funeral & Cremation, 1276 Tate Trail, Union City, MI, 49094, with a rosary service beginning at 6:00 p.m.
Duard was born on July 18,1945, in Toledo, Ohio to Emile and Junita (McCarty) Martin. He graduated from Union City High School with the Class of 1963. After graduation, he proudly served in the Air National Guard for 7 years.
January 8, 1983, Duard married Janet McKillop in Kalamazoo. She preceded him in death December 16, 2011.
In addition to serving our country, Duard worked as a maintenance man for 21 years at area Burger King restaurants. He was a farmer, which he enjoyed very much. Duard was a member of the Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church in Union City. He enjoyed spending time with his family, reading, tinkering on various projects, and making cotton candy for family and church events.
He is survived by his beloved children, Rachel (Dean) Loeffler of Candler, North Carolina, Nicole (Tom) Herman of Coldwater, Michigan and Jacob (Lindsey) Martin of Waterford, Michigan; his grandchildren, Sophia Loeffler and Jackson Martin; his siblings, Tom (Donna) Martin, Mary (Paul) McCarty, Michael (Rose) Martin, Rose Duchon, Theresa (Howard) DeLinek, Rita (Tony) Hemker, and Joe (Karen) Martin, and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife, Janet, Duard was preceded in death by his parents.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be directed to the Our Lady of Fatima Building Fund, Duard’s parish for almost 70 years.
