QUINCY, MI (WTVB) – Dennis Taylor was selected to fill a vacancy on the Quincy Community School Board of Education during the board’s monthly meeting on Monday night.
Taylor was one of four candidates who expressed an interest in serving out the balance of Alan McClellan’s term which expires at the end of the year.
McClellan turned in his resignation on January 23 after serving on the board for nearly 15 years. He served as the board president from 2017 until this past December.
McClellan is now serving as a member of the Branch County Board of Commissioners and as President of the Branch County Fair Board.
Taylor is eligible to run in November’s election for a full six year term on the board.
There have been two vacancies on the board over the last couple of months. Chelsea Lofton was chosen last month to fill a vacant board position after Board Vice-President Greg Richer’s resignation.
He resigned on December 22, 2023 after serving on the board for eight years.
Taylor was one of seven candidates who expressed an interest last month in serving out Richer’s term.
One of the candidates who was interested in both seats express her displeasure with the School Board’s decisions on her Facebook page.
