LITCHFIELD, MI (WTVB) – Officials from Tekonsha and Pansophia Academy will be meeting Tuesday to figure out the next steps that need to be taken after a fight broke out in the fourth quarter of the M.H.S.A.A. boys basketball district game between the two schools on Monday night in Litchfield.
A video of the incident shows players from both teams fighting for the ball in the corner of the court before it goes out of bounds with 4:27 left in the contest and Tekonsha ahead 39-21.
Tempers boiled over at that point and the video indicates a Pansophia player started the fracas. Players from both sides then got involved in the fight which led to some spectators and school officials coming out onto the court.
Tekonsha Superintendent Jo Ellen OKeefe said three players were ejected, two from Pansophia Academy and one from Tekonsha.
After the fight, it was agreed to end the game which resulted in a forfeit in favor of Tekonsha.
Pansophia Athletic Director Jose Gonzalez said Tuesday morning they we will not tolerate that kind of unsportsmanlike behavior.
