COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The three-point baskets came early and often in Coldwater’s non-conference girls basketball game against Otsego Tuesday at the Coach Floyd Eby Gymnasium. The Cardinals had nine total in their 44-28 win against the Bulldogs.
Coldwater had seven triples in the first quarter alone as they roared out to a 26-3 lead, adding two more in the second to help take a 39-14 advantage to the halftime break. Otsego outscored the Cardinals 4-0 in the third and 10-5 in the fourth.
Rylie VanAken led all scorers with 10 points, including two 3-pointers and a perfect 4-for-4 from the free throw line. Elli Foley and Elli Anderson had 9 points apiece; both sank a pair of 3-pointers. Mya Porter also had 9 points; all came from beyond the arc. Coley Burkhardt had a team-high 5 rebounds, while Cara Miller dished out 6 assists.
Coldwater improves to 18-3 with the win and will wrap up the regular season Thursday night at home against 17-1 Portage Central.
Hannah Fitzpatrick had 8 points to lead Otsego; they fell to 12-8 and will visit Vicksburg Thursday to wrap up the regular season.

Otsego won both underclassman games. The Bulldogs took the JV contest 36-19; Aubrey Gebbink led Coldwater with 6 points, while Paisley Harvey and Ayla McCowan had 4 apiece. Otsego also won the freshman game 25-16.
