US approves first gene therapy for rare genetic disease

(Reuters) – The U.S. Food and Drug Administration said on Monday it had approved UK-based Orchard Therapeutics’ gene therapy for the treatment of children with a rare hereditary disease called metachromatic leukodystrophy (MLD).
