COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – A Coldwater woman who was convicted on four charges by a Branch County Circuit Court jury on January 10 in the shooting of her daughter during an argument in their home was ordered to serve a total of 8 to 22 years in the Michigan Department of Corrections on Tuesday.
65-year-old Kathleen Annette Rowe was convicted after an hour of jury deliberation following a two day trial.
Rowe was given a six to 20 year sentence for discharging a firearm in a building causing serious impairment.
The convictions for assault with intent to do great bodily harm less than murder and assault with a dangerous weapon had concurrent sentences while the felony firearm conviction carries an automatic two year consecutive sentence.
33-year-old Kacey Stringer was shot in the abdomen on January 26, 2023 in the 500 block of Pamela Drive just north of State Street. The jury did not buy the defense argument that the shooting was in self-defense.
The trial took place after Rowe rejected a plea agreement last October.
