HILLSDALE TOWNSHIP, MI (WTVB) – The Michigan State Police Bomb Squad had to be called to the Baw Beese Inn in Hillsdale County on Tuesday afternoon when an explosive device was found in a vehicle.
It happened after the Michigan State Police First District Fugitive Team and the Michigan State Police Emergency Support Team were preparing to conduct a search warrant on a room at the inn for a wanted 26-year-old fugitive from Calhoun County.
State Police say the suspect had a valid warrant for his arrest out of Jackson County. After he was arrested, a suspected explosive device was found in a vehicle the man was in.
The Michigan State Police Bomb Squad was able to secure the suspected explosive device.
The suspect was lodged at the Hillsdale County Jail pending additional charges regarding this on-going investigation.
The Hillsdale Township Fire Department assisted the State Police at the scene.
