COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Coldwater Community Schools Board of Education approved a proposal on Monday night from Alliance Electric for the updating and expansion of the video security system in the district for just over $204,000 which will be paid out of funds from the school safety grant.
The request was made as it was felt there was a need to update and install more efficient and up-to-date security cameras in and around Coldwater High School, Legg Middle School, Jefferson Elementary and Max Larsen Elementary.
Alliance Electric worked closely with the district’s technology department and Mark Knaack, the project consultant, to assess the needs of the district.
Alliance Electric also partnered with Digital Watchdog Hardware and Software which is used in all school districts and Branch County and many of the districts in Calhoun County.
In order to support the camera upgrades, the board approved the separate purchase of new servers and network switches.
The board approved a quote of $11,190 from InaCOMP TSG for the network switches as well as the purchase of new servers from Dell Depot at an approximate cost of $18,000, to be paid for with funds from the school safety grant.
