COLDWATER TOWNSHIP, MI (WTVB) – A public hearing is scheduled to be held during Monday night’s Coldwater Township Board meeting on whether to grant a solar energy facility exemption certificate to Coldwater River Solar.
An application was filed with the Township Clerk’s office in late February.
The purpose of the public hearing is to consider granting a certificate to Coldwater River Solar under the Solar Energy Facilities Taxation Act of 2023 related to lands owned by the applicant in Coldwater and Ovid Townships.
Apex Clean Energy’s Coldwater Solar project has already received the necessary permit approvals from the two townships.
The company says the 150 megawatt project will generate enough clean energy to power about 27,000 homes annually.
