The US 12 Heritage Trail Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution has honored local 2024 high school graduates with their annual Good Citizens Recognition Ceremony The DAR group represents Hillsdale and Branch Counties, and all members are direct descendants of Revolutionary War soldiers.
For the 2024 school year there were 14 schools across Hillsdale and Branch counties participated in the Good Citizens Award. The administration of each school chose an outstanding senior male or female of whom exemplifies Dependability, Service, Leadership and Patriotism.
The chosen students were invited to compete in the local essay contest. This year the essay title given to the students was “What are the civic responsibilities of a good citizen and why are these duties, activities and behaviors important to the shaping of the America you hope to experience?”
The winner of the local essay contest was Halle Clark from Camden Frontier. Halle’s essay was forwarded to the State DAR Good Citizen committee with the possibility of going to the National contest for contention to win an additional DAR scholarship.
