JACKSON, MI (WTVB) – Fueled by senior and Coldwater native Rykert Frisinger’s 8-under-par 63, Hillsdale Academy won its fourth consecutive SCAA conference crown on Monday at the 18-hole SCAA Championship meet held at Ella Sharp Golf Course.
Frisinger got in a rhythm early by parring the first four holes he played before he birdied the next three. Overall, he never shot above par, birdied six holes, and bagged an eagle on the par 5 fourteenth hole.
Frisinger’s round was one of the best rounds ever shot by a Hillsdale Academy golfer, and one of the lowest scores ever seen in the SCAA conference.
His teammates did their parts, as well, to lead the Colts to a commanding 57 stroke win over second place Jackson Christian.
Junior Kahle Welden bogied only three holes and notched a birdie himself to end with a two-over-par 73.
Senior Ridley Fast finished with a 77, while freshman Lincoln Knirk, of Quincy, was one stroke behind with a 78.
Freshman Ben Lutz carded an 86, and junior Vincent Reagle took a 96.
The Colts swept the first four individual finishing spots, while putting five golfers in the top 10 finishers.
The Colts’ 291 was their lowest 18-hole score of the season, and bested Jackson Christian’s 348. Will Carleton Academy took the SCAA third spot after shooting a 358.
The Colts are led by Coach Rolla Frisinger, and he leads the team into the golf regionals on Thursday, May 30.
This year, Hillsdale Academy will be hosting the Regional 21 meet at Coldwater Golf Course.
