Christopher Joseph “CJ” Peterson, 34, of Quincy passed away Monday, May 20, 2024 at the University of Michigan Hospital.
Cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life will be held July 20, 2024.
Arrangements are being cared for by Dutcher Funeral Home in Coldwater.
Christopher was born March 23, 1990 to Tracy Peterson and Tammy Lyon in Coldwater, MI. CJ worked as a truck driver and proudly drove the semi that belonged to his Grandpa Larry where he spent and shared much of his childhood.
He loved all things automotive and enjoyed nothing more than working on the cars and semis that he spent so much time with. Naturally, with a calling for motors, CJ was drawn to racing and had the privilege to attend NASCAR driving school alongside his grandfather, Gary Lyon.
Though cars and trucks were his life, CJ’s greatest passion was his family and friends with the many memories that were made and cherished just hanging out in the barn with his cousin Kyle Sattler.
CJ is survived by his mother Tammy Hulbert of Coldwater, his father Tracy Peterson of Quincy, his stepfather David Hulbert of Quincy; his siblings Cody (Amanda) Peterson, Kasondra Peterson both of Coldwater, Logan Peterson of Quincy; his grandparents Patti (Brian Hickok) Champion of Quincy, Larry (Joyce) Champion of Burr Oak, his great grandmother Hilda Smith of Coldwater; his aunts and uncles Brandee (Jeff) Pabian, Kim Carter both of Coldwater, Scott (Lisa) Peterson of Quincy, Erin (Dena Knapp) Peterson of Montgomery; his nieces and nephews Nylarose Peterson, Mason Glowe, Ryleigh Peterson; and many loving cousins.
Christopher was preceded in death by his great-grandpa Eddie Smith, grandpa Gary Lyon, and grandparents Cecil and Susan Morrison.
Memorials may be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
“Christopher Joseph Peterson, Mommy loves you big tight.”
