UNION CITY, MI (WTVB) – Quincy and Union City met Thursday evening at Alumni Field to play a rescheduled Big 8 Conference game. The two teams then played an additional non league game.
In the game that counted in the league standings, the Chargers rallied from a 6-0 deficit to defeat the Orioles 7-6 in eight innings. The Chargers used big hits and capitalized on six Oriole errors to complete the comeback.
Quincy was led at the plate by Ryan Kempter and Ethan Copas who had two hits each. Alex Barry had two RBIs. The Chargers finished league play at 7-5 and the Orioles 6-6.
Quincy won the second game 8-7 after it was called because of darkness after six innings. The Orioles pounded out 11 hits and got out to an 8-2 lead. The Chargers again closed the gap to 8-7.
Grant Holroyd who was credited with the win. Jimmy Maynard earned the save. Mason Graves sparked the offense with three hits while Barry and Landon Beardon added two hits each.
The Chargers won the season series 2 to 1. All three games were decided by one run.
