MARSHALL, MI (WNWN/WTVB) – Michigan Department of Transportation crews are scheduled to start resurfacing a nine mile stretch of westbound I-94 near Albion on Sunday.
The work will take place between 29 Mile Road in Sheridan Township to 21 1/2 Mile Road in Marengo Township.
The $4.3 million investment includes resurfacing the ramps at 22 1/2 Mile Road, M-199 and the I-94 Business Route.
The work is expected to end by August 2. There will be nighttime lane and ramp closures from 7:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m..
This is on top of MDOT’s three-year, $160 million project to repave I-94 between Helmer Road and 17 1/2 Mile Road in Calhoun County. That project also includes the rebuilding of nine bridges and the repair of eight others.
Intermittent closures of eastbound I-94 are scheduled for later this week as bridge beams will be set on the bridge over 9 Mile Road.
Starting Thursday night at 8:00 p.m. there will be a single-lane closure on eastbound I-94, east of Beadle Lake Road.
Michigan State Police will be on hand for the intermittent total closures of eastbound I-94 which are scheduled to take place between midnight and 5:00 a.m. on Friday morning.
