QUINCY, MI (WTVB) – “The Branch County Veterans Footlocker” was created in 2017 by the Quincy American Legion Auxiliary as a way to assist struggling veterans and their families. The Veterans Footlocker contains essential food and personal items that are available at the Branch County Veterans Affairs office at 570 Marshall Road, Coldwater, free of charge to any veteran in need.
Joe Ward and Mike Evon host their annual golf tournament Sunday, July 14 which helps fund the Veterans Footlocker. This year, each golfer will receive a Golfer’s Survival Kit as a “Thank You”. Quincy American Legion Auxiliary Membership Chairperson, Debbie Wilkinson and Auxiliary Junior Members Ellie Dodd, Ava Barve, and Kendallyn Skiles spent an afternoon preparing and filling the “Thank You” gifts.
Debbie Wilkinson said, “It is heartwarming to see our Junior Members stepping up and donating their time to help our veterans. These young ladies also help with our military box mailing that we send to active duty troops overseas, our community Easter Eggstravaganza, as well as our Halloween Trunk or Treat event. They all have a family history of military service, so I think it comes naturally. I am excited to see how their commitment to community service continues to grow over the years.”
