COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Branch County Board of Commissioners accepted annual reports from two courts and from the Treasurer’s Office on Monday.
Commissioner Jon Houtz said the District Court report showed a decrease in the number of cases compared to recent years.
The court generated over $697,000 in fines and costs which was the lowest in the last four years.
The Probate and Juvenile Court annual report showed there were 360 petitions filed.
The Treasurer’s annual report showed there were 2,191 delinquent parcels which led to 11 property foreclosures.
County Treasurer Steven Rutz said they try to work with those who fall behind.
Of the 11 properties that went into foreclosure over the past year, Rutz said six were on vacant land. There were only two persons residing in foreclosed properties. The other properties were abandoned.
