COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – A Nurse at ProMedica Coldwater Regional Hospital has been honored with The DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses ®.
Registered Nurse Penny Weddle was recently honored. Her nominator said, “Penny brings a lot of experience and compassion to department nursing, but so do the other staff. Where she sets herself apart from the rest is in going beyond expectations to improve the quality of our patients’ lives. Recently, we had a patient who needed equipment not available on our unit, but Penny went the extra mile and found a solution; she showed up with a portable unit. That is going above and beyond and demonstrates true dedication and compassion to our patients.”
The award is part of the DAISY Foundation’s mission to recognize the extraordinary, compassionate nursing care they provide patients and families every day.
The DAISY Foundation is a not-for-profit organization, established in memory of J. Patrick Barnes, by members of his family.
Nurses may be nominated by patients, families, and colleagues.
Each Honoree receives a certificate commending her or him as an “Extraordinary Nurse.”
Honorees also receive a DAISY Award pin and a sculpture called A Healer’s Touch, hand-carved by artists of the Shona Tribe in Zimbabwe.
