(Reuters) – The National Transportation Safety Board said it is opening an investigation after an SUV in Belle Glade, Florida drove into a canal late on Monday resulting in at least nine deaths.
The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office said four died at the scene and five died after being transported to a local hospital.
A tenth person who was in the vehicle remains hospitalized. The sheriff’s department is investigating the accident.
