COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Branch County Board of Commissioners formally approved allocation of opioid settlement funds on Tuesday to Pines Behavioral Health and to 2-1-1 services.
The Commissioners agreed after some discussion to allocate $15,000 annually to 2-1-1 services with the balance of the funds going to Pines for a period of 18 years.
Pines and 2-1-1 made requests for opioid settlement funding last month. Pines requested $6-point-5 million while 2-1-1 asked for $15,000 annually over 18 years with an additional $1,000 during the first year.
Branch County Administrator Bud Norman gave a recap for Commissioners during their August 1 work session.
The settlement funds for the Sheriff’s Department over a 10 year period were to be used to help fund the addition of six new deputies.
