SOMERSET, MI (WTVB) – The Coldwater cross country teams opened their season on Thursday night at the Meckley’s Invitational which was hosted by Meckley’s Flavor Fruit Farm.
Both teams finished fourth out of seven teams. Coldwater had 15 runners earn medals with 10 runners taking part their first ever High School cross country meet.
The meet was divided into two divisions.
The Coldwater boys were second behind Hanover-Horton in the freshman-sophomore division. Hanover-Horton had 28 points followed by Coldwater with 47 and Sand Creek with 56.
Coldwater’s Luke Aerts was second with a time of 20:02.62. Drew Vanderpuyl (20:04.73) was third. Ben Travelbee (22:27.41) was 13th.
Coldwater did not have enough runners for a team score in the boys junior-senior race. Aiden Parker was ninth with a time of 22:37.76. Talan Doll (26:07.12) was 16th while Kaleb Miller (27:20.45) was 24th.
Coldwater did not have enough runners for team scores in either division. Gwen Eby was fourth in the freshman-sophomore race with a time of 25:19.4. Annika Johnson (27:00.81) was sixth. Miyah Moore (30:25.5) was tenth.
Olivia Golematis was tenth in the junior-senior race with a time of 30:30.4. Elizabeth Ojeda (35:25.26) was 15th.
