COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Coldwater Community Schools Superintendent Paul Flynn said in a letter on Thursday night to parents and guardians that some students in a group Snapchat received an anonymous post with what could be considered a threat to student and staff safety.
Flynn says students did the right thing and reported this post to district administrators right away.
He added, “District administrators worked quickly with the Coldwater Police Department to investigate and have determined that there is no credibility to this statement. There has been an increase nationwide of vague posts on social media to increase anxiety and potentially disrupt school operations. Coldwater Community Schools investigates every situation seriously with the cooperation of our city police department.”
Flynn said school will continue to operate on its normal schedule and he encouraged parents and guardians to talk to their children about the serious nature of making such statements in today’s society and the potential consequences.
He also encouraged them to do the right thing and report any suspicious activity to school personnel immediately.
