COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – After a number of vandalism incidents at the fire pit in the northwest corner of the Four Corners Park, the City of Coldwater is throwing in the sponge.
City Manager Keith Baker said during Monday night’s City Council meeting that the fire pit will only be turned on for special events.
Case Welding upgraded the screen to make it more rigid after the fire pit was out of commission for several months.
The fire pit has been a target of vandals since it was installed in early 2023.
In addition to the fire pit, the City of Coldwater continues to experience various levels of vandalism in the rest rooms at Parkhurst Park and at Heritage Park near the Little League diamonds and the Disk Golf course.
Residents are asked to call 911 if they see anyone committing acts of vandalism or the City offices at 279-9501 to report any damage.
