COLDWATER TOWNSHIP, MI (WTVB) – Another solar energy system project in Branch County is a step closer to becoming a reality.
The Coldwater Township Planning Commission approved a special land use permit request from DTE Energy as well as a site plan on Tuesday night for the construction and operation of a proposed Commercial Solar Energy System which is known as the Cold Creek Solar Project.
The action came after a public hearing was conducted at the Coldwater Township Hall.
Properties along Newton Road, Jonesville Road and North Fiske Road were the subject of the special land use permit request by DTE.
Special use permit approvals are still needed for the project from Planning Commissions in Butler and Quincy Townships.

I am for this, but it’s not enough. We are growing and the whole nation will be using much more power. The Consumers electric bill is already expensive. I think the County needs to try to bring Fission to us.Its the cleanest nuclear there is and nothing generates more energy. Try the company Oklo. Its owned by the billionaire, Republican mega donor, Sam Altman .
Also our community needs to think of an industry of the future, like Graphene! I exchanged email 📧 with the CEO of Black Swan Graphene and he said he had a expo in Germany and would be trying to go public after it.He said he would need build alot of factories in North America, they’re in Canada.
