JACKSON, MI (WTVB) – The Bronson girls cross country team came within three points of qualifying as a team for the M.H.S.A.A. Division Three Finals on Friday during the regional meet held at Ella Sharp Park in Jackson.
Jackson Lumen Christi won the regional title with 53 points followed by Onsted with 77 points, Jonesville with 114 points and Bronson in fourth with 117 points. Quincy finished tenth in the team standings.
Bronson’s Ava Hathaway and Ashlynn Harris along with Quincy’s Lainey Yearling qualified for the state finals next weekend at Michigan International Speedway as individuals by finishing in the top 15.
Hathaway was third in a time of 18:35.7. Harris was fifth with a time of 19:47.3. Yearling finished 11th with a time of 21:03.9.
Quincy was sixth in the boys meet while Bronson was ninth. Jackson Lumen Christi also won the boys meet with 53 points followed by Hanover-Horton with 71 points and Jonesville with 91 points.
Quincy’s Chayse Jensen was the only Branch County boy to qualify as an individual for the state finals as he was 21st with a time of 17:33.7.
