BRANCH COUNTY, MI (WTVB) – The latest version of the U.S. Drought Monitor that was released on Thursday shows little change in Branch County but there was a widespread expansion of Severe Drought conditions across northeast Indiana.
The far southern part of Branch County has moderate drought conditions while the rest of the county is abnormally dry.
The National Weather Service says drought conditions will likely be slow to improve this fall and winter but widespread rain could be on the way early next week.
The dry conditions that have plagued Branch County since early August continued during the month of October.
The M.S.U. Extension Service weather station at the Bloom Dairy Farm only measured rain on five days for a total of 1.99 inches. That includes 1.74 inches that fell during the weekend of October 12 and 13.
