COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Over $78,000 was raised during the 45th Tibbits Opera House Auction which wrapped up Saturday night.
This year’s theme honored the popular 1980’s movie “Back to the Future”.
The event included food, beverages, music, games and over 300 items to bid on either online or in person.
The bids were led by Darin Spieth and Dan Satow of Spieth and Satow Auctioneers. Ken Delaney served as the Master of Ceremonies.
The audience was reminded the importance of the funds raised in helping the theatre provide arts and entertainment for the community, opportunities for children, maintaining the historic theatre and serving as the economic and
tourism driver for the county, and also the place where many memories have been created.
Following the auction, Tibbits Board President John Bolton expressed his appreciation for a supportive and generous community. “We thank everyone who attended and bid. We thank the donors, the sponsors, and of course the volunteers and staff who made it happen.”
Dinners and special experiences highlighted the items up for bid.
The Barton S. Tibbits Sponsorship, which includes four tickets to every event at the theatre for the year, took a nostalgic turn as Harold and Jane Schultz became the high bidders. They held the honor from 1990 through 2000, missing just one year over that decade.
Other high bids for the evening came from three separate dinners donated by Kathy and Rick Merrill, one of which teams with Two Bandits Brewing.
Other experiences garnering high bids were donated by Keiss Jewelry, the
Detroit Lions, and Clemens Food Group.
Winners of the auction raffle sponsored by Great Lakes Chiropractic were Dean Walrack with the $1,000 first prize, Tracy Kelley, whose $250 second prize was donated back to the theatre and (to come) two Tibbits Summer Theatre season tickets third prize.
