Peggy Jean MacKenzie, 89, of Coldwater passed away Monday, November 4, 2024 at her home in Coldwater surrounded by her family.
A funeral service will be held Friday, November 8, 2024 at 12:00 p.m. at Northview Christian Church with Pastor Jeff Bream officiating. A private family burial will be held at Evergreen Cemetery.
The family will receive guests for visitation that morning from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at the church.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Dutcher Funeral Home in Coldwater.
She was born July 21, 1935 to Carl and Gladys (Miller) Harris in Bradford, AR. Peggy graduated from Benton Harbor High School in 1953 and May 4, 1957 she married Donald B. MacKenzie and he survives.
Leading a various career history, Peggy had worked at Jean’s Dress Shop in Benton Harbor, held a background in food services, and had worked at both Otto & Sons and the Branch Intermediate School District in Coldwater. Always ensuring that her family was taken care of, Peggy ultimately finished her working career at what she did best, which was making her family’s house a home filled with warmth and love.
She was a faithful member of Northview Christian Church where her and Don were instrumental in the Nativity programs and weekly Bible studies. Peggy had an eye for beauty as she was talented in the art of ceramics and always looked forward to a good shopping trip.
Sharing a passion for travel, Peggy and her family enjoyed countless camping vacations; but above all, she truly loved and cherished her family and the life they made together.
In addition to her husband Don MacKenzie of Coldwater, Peggy leaves behind her children Tammy (Gary) Massey of Coldwater, Kathy Damon of Union City, Tom MacKenzie of Winfield, IL, Mark (Patti) MacKenzie of Elkhart, IN, Matthew (Angela) MacKenzie of South Lyon, MI; her grandchildren Bryan (Amy) Massey, Stacie (Joe Mason) Parker, Tricia (Trevor) Berry, Jennifer (Paul) Hopkins, Melissa Damon, Grant MacKenzie, Brycen MacKenzie, Tyler MacKenzie; her 19 great grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; and her many loving nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her great grandsons Tristian Hopkins and Jackson Berry, her siblings Mary Lou McIntyre and Harold Harris, her niece Anne Fisher, and her son-in-law Vern Damon.
Memorial donations are suggested to Northview Christian Church or the American Cancer Society.
