HUDSON, MI (WTVB) – The Union City Chargers have a chance to win their first M.H.S.A.A. football district championship in 23 years on Friday night.
They will face the Hudson Tigers in a Division Seven district title game at Hudson’s Thompson Field starting at 7:00 p.m.. Both teams are 9-1 after earning lopsided wins in the pre-districts last week.
Union City smashed Hanover-Horton 42-13 while the Tigers chewed up Napoleon 38-6.
Ironically, the last time the Chargers won a district championship in 2001 they lost to Hudson 41-6 in the regionals.
The Tigers have won four out of five games against the Chargers over the years including a 50-13 triumph in a 2022 pre-district game.
Friday’s winner plays either Schoolcraft or Lawton next week in the regionals.
