David T. Kaniewski, 80, of Sherwood passed away Sunday, November 10, 2024 at his home.
A celebration of David’s life will take place at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, November 14, 2024 at Factoryville Bible Church, 33650 Factoryville Road, Athens, MI 49011 with Pastor Fred Goebert officiating. Interment will take place at 2:00 p.m. in Sherwood Cemetery.
Visitation will also be held Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:00 a.m.., also at Factoryville Bible Church.
The family is being served by Lighthouse Funeral & Cremation in Union City.
David was born on October 27, 1944, to Thomas A. and Mildred J. (Carpenter) Kaniewski in Coldwater, Michigan. He graduated from Union City High School with the Class of 1962. May 6, 1963, he married Patricia Biteman in Quincy.
David worked at Clark Equipment in Battle Creek for 9 years and farmed until 2017. He also was a fur buyer for many years. David enjoyed hunting, fishing and trapping.
He was a member of Factoryville Bible Church, where he served on the Church Board and Missions Committee, and the National Rifle Association and the Michigan Trapper Association.
Surviving are his wife, Patricia Kaniewski of Sherwood; his children, Scott Kaniewski of Sherwood, Todd Kaniewski of Sherwood, and Rebecca (Kip) Hiebert of Wilsey, KS; his grandchildren, Rachel (Chris) Morrison, Leah (Joseph) Reinert, Amy Hiebert; his great grandchildren, Emmalyn Reinert, Willis Reinert; his brother, Dennis Kaniewski of Sherwood; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister-in-law, Michele “Miki” Kaniewski.
