COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Branch County Board of Commissioners suspended board rules during last Thursday’s work session and gave Administrator Bud Norman permission to sign paperwork on the sale of buildings the county owned on U.S. 12 just east of the Masonic Temple.
Norman told the Commissioners the buildings were no longer needed.
Debbie Lounds-Bowers of Midwestern Realty has worked with the County on the sale of the buildings.
Norman said the highest bid for the two buildings was $224,900.
It was requested last Thursday that the Commissioners suspend board rules to accept the bid and allow Norman to sign the paperwork on behalf of the County in order to expedite the process.
The property at 61 East Chicago was being used as the county’s Michigan Indigent Defense Commission office. At one time, Coldwater McDonald’s restaurant owner and operators Jim and Laura Maynard had their offices there.
