Dale Lewis Davis, 79, of Bronson, passed away Thursday, November 14, 2024 at Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne, IN following a lengthy illness.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, November 23, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at Bethel Gilead Church with Pastor Jim Erwin officiating. Military honors will be provided at 11:00 a.m. to begin the service by the Coldwater American Legion Post 52 Drill Team.
The family will receive guests for visitation Friday, November 22, 2024 from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at Dutcher Funeral Home in Bronson and again Saturday, November 23, 2024 from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at Bethel Gilead Church.
He was born January 22, 1945 to Edward “Jack” and Opal (Corwin) Davis in Coldwater, MI. Dale was the youngest of 6 children born to Jack and Opal.
After graduating from Bronson High School, Dale honorably served his country in the United States Army. Upon returning home, he worked at Darlings, Texaco, Quality Springs, farmed, but ultimately finished his working career logging for over 40 years.
May 4, 1968 Dale married Sally Fowler at Snow Prairie Methodist Church and she survives.
While growing up, Dale helped on his family farm, played several sports, and was active in 4-H. He was a faithful member of Bethel Gilead Church, the Michigan Dynameter Association, Michigan Boat Association, and the Bronson American Legion.
Dale found his joy in pulling horses, sports, playing cards with his friends and family, and always looked forward to deer hunting camp every year; but above all else, Dale’s greatest passion was his family.
In addition to his wife of 56 years, Sally Davis of Bronson, Dale leaves behind his children Tonya McKerchie of Charlevoix, MI, Mary (Jody) Rumsey of Union City, MI, Lawrence (Jodee) Davis of Sturgis, MI; his sisters Beth Somerlott of Bronson, MI, Carol Rowe of Battle Creek, MI; his grandchildren Shane (Bekah) McKerchie, Bray (Joanna Garrow) McKerchie, Emily (Kevin) McKerchie Proctor, Danae McKerchie, Jason Rumsey, Elizabeth (Zach) Havens, William (Jen Tester) Harris, Zach (Megan) Harris; his 10 great grandchildren, his sister-in-law Gloria Martin of Marquette, MI; and his many loving nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his father and mother-in-law Charles and Helen (Rose) Fowler; his siblings Onnalee VanHusan, Eleanore Fowler, Dean Davis; his brother and sister-in-laws Don Fowler, Charles Somerlott, Jim Rowe, Bob VanHusan, Arden Fowler, Bill Martin, and Nora Davis.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are suggested to Bethel Gilead Church or the Bronson Fire Department.
