COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Coldwater City Council introduced an ordinance on Monday night which amends the licensing chapter concerning marijuana establishments.
The City recently amended the Zoning Code to eliminate marijuana grower and microbusinesses within the City. City Attorney Amanda O’Boyle says the chapter presently allows these license types and should be amended to be consistent with the recent zoning changes.
She added a section covering license transfers after several current license holders have inquired about transferring a marijuana license from one entity to another.
The proposed amendment would provide a process to allow for license transfer.
In addition, the ordinance states that if a license renewal is not timely submitted, the municipal marijuana license may be renewed within 60 days after its expiration date upon application, payment of all applicable fees and penalties, and satisfaction of any renewal requirements so long as the state license is valid.
