ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, MI (WTVB) – The lake effect snow machine is in full operation as cold air has moved over the relatively warm water of Lake Michigan.
Michigan’s St. Joseph County is included in a Winter Weather Advisory that is in effect from 3:00 p.m. Monday until 10:00 a.m. Tuesday.
Total snow accumulations of between 2 and 4 inches are expected with locally higher amounts possible in Elkhart and Northern La Porte Counties in Indiana and St. Joseph County in Michigan.
Drivers can plan on slippery road conditions which could impact the Monday evening and Tuesday morning commutes.
Slow down and use caution while traveling. The latest road conditions for the state you are calling from can be obtained by calling 5-1-1.
During lake effect snow, the weather can vary from bands of locally heavy snow to dry weather just a few miles away. Visibilities can also vary greatly. Be prepared for rapid changes in weather, visibility, and road conditions.
