BRANCH COUNTY, MI (WTVB) – The 2024-2025 high school wrestling season opened Wednesday night and all of the Branch County teams were scheduled to see action.
Coldwater split their first two matches of the season during a quad meet at Buchanan. The Cardinals defeated Buchanan 48-18 but lost to Decatur 49-28.
Coldwater recorded five pins in the victory over Buchanan. They came from Ruben Torres (144), Gage Fuller (165), Wyatt Boger (175), Fletcher Barr (285) and Umari Umari (120). Carter Finley (150) won a forfeit. Winning on decisions were Raul Cecilio (215) and Hunter Longstreet (132).
Cecilio, Umari and Cooper Coan (126) scored pins against Decatur while Longstreet won on a major decision and Barr won on a forfeit.

Bronson opened their season with a pair of wins in a quad meet they hosted. The Vikings defeated Harper Creek 39-34 and Sand Creek 59-8.
The Vikings got pins against Sand Creek from Brayton Cosby (120), Brycen Fincham (150), Collin York (157), Conner Harvey (215) and Sam Tappenden (285). Winning on forfeits were Jovani Ramos (132), Gabe Erwin (165), Layne Knisely (175) and Mason Lindsey (190). Owen Kimmons (144) won on a technical fall.
Scoring pins against Harper Creek were Cosby (113), Kimmons, York, Erwin, Knisely and Lindsey. Fincham (150) won his match on a decision.

Quincy was scheduled to open their season at the Vicksburg Quad but the meet was cancelled because of the weather.
Union City was scheduled to wrestle at a quad meet hosted by Sturgis. No results were reported.
