COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – An amendment to the current lease between the City of Coldwater and the Coldwater Community Center is on Monday night’s City Council agenda.
According to a renewed three year lease from November of 2023, the City would pay all utilities during the first year.
But the Community Center’s Kathie Bappert is asking the city to continue paying the utilities through at least the end of April.
City Manager Keith Baker said in his memo for Monday night’s Council meeting that according to IRS tax filings, the gross receipts for the Community Center were less than $50,000 for tax year 2023.
The group is also currently pursuing State grant funds through the State Historic Preservation Office in order to make further improvements to the building.
Baker says the remaining terms of the Lease Agreement would remain the same.
The Council will be asked on Monday to introduce the amended Agreement. If that happens, it will come back for final approval on Monday, January 27, 2025.
In other business, the Council is scheduled to hold a workshop at the end of the meeting on a proposed Band Shell.
