LANSING, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Michigan’s minimum wage will be going up this week.
Beginning January 1, the minimum wage will rise from $10.33 to $10.56 per hour. Then in February, the minimum wage will rise again to $12.48.
For tipped employees, the hourly rate will rise in February from the current $.93 per hour to $4.01 per hour.
Republican lawmakers were unsuccessful in modifying the tipped wage change during the lame duck session this month, but vow to fight for a change when they have control of the Michigan House of Representatives in January.
