LANSING, MI (WTVB) – Figures released on Thursday by the Michigan Department of Technology, Management and Budget showed Branch County’s unemployment rate in November was 4-point-3 percent which was a tenth of a percent increase from October.
Branch County had the 15th lowest unemployment rate among Michigan’s 83 counties.
The data showed not seasonally adjusted unemployment rates advanced in 11 of the state’s 17 labor market areas over the month
Labor market information director for the Michigan Center for Data and Analytics Wayne Rourke said, “Michigan regional unemployment rate gains were primarily due to workforce advances across most labor market areas over the month. Payroll jobs also rose over the month in the majority of Michigan metro areas.”
Calhoun and Hillsdale County’s unemployment rates in November were at five percent with the jobless rate in St. Joseph County at four-point-six percent.
Michigan’s November unemployment rate was at 4-point-8 percent after starting 2024 at four percent.
November unemployment rates around Michigan ranged from 3-point-3 percent in Livingston County to nine-point-eight percent in Oscoda County.
