COLDWATER, MI – The Coldwater Cardinal boys basketball team emphatically ended a three-game losing streak Tuesday night with a 52-34 win against Jackson Northwest at the Coach Floyd Eby Gymnasium.
Coldwater jumped out to a 12-6 first quarter lead and increased it to 22-12 at halftime. They put the game away by outscoring Northwest in the third quarter 22-11.
Ayden Dirschell led the Cardinals with 14 points and 8 rebounds, while Austin Downs added 13 points and 4 boards. Gavin Taylor had 9 points, 4 assists, and 4 steals as Coldwater improved to 5-6 overall, 2-1 in the Interstate 8. They return to action Friday night at Harper Creek.
Jalen Jordan led all scorers with 18 points for Northwest; no other Mountie had more than 3 points. They fall to 3-7 overall, 1-2 in the Interstate 8.

The Cardinals made it a sweep of the evening, as they won the JV game 55-46 and the freshman contest 51-30.
