SHERWOOD TOWNSHIP, MI (WTVB) – A living room wood burner is being listed as the possible cause of a Monday night fire at a Sherwood Township home that was hit by a tornado on May 7, 2024.
Sherwood Township Fire Chief Jeff Smurr says the fire at the home in the 700 block of Ralston Road was reported at about 8:30 p.m..
The fire and most of the damage was contained to the attic. Smurr says a steel roof was the biggest obstacle they had to overcome.
No injuries were reported. A dollar figure on the damage has not been totaled up yet.
Sherwood Township crews were assisted by firefighters from Athens and Colon. LifeCare Ambulance stood by.
