Brenda Sue Sawdey, 84, of Allen passed away Wednesday, January 8, 2025 at Jackson County Medical Care Facility.
Funeral services will be held Monday, January 13, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at the Eagle Funeral Home-George White Chapel in Quincy with Pastor Beverly Clark officiating. Burial will follow at Allen Cemetery.
The family will receive friends for visitation on Sunday from 1:00-4:00 p.m. at the funeral home, with a service from the Order of the Eastern Star beginning at 3:30 p.m.
She was born September 15, 1940, in South Bend, IN to John and Evelyn (Noyes) Honer. She married Arthur Sawdey on October 4, 1958, and he preceded her in death on February 25, 2014.
Brenda graduated from Long Beach High School in Long Beach, CA. She was formerly employed as an office manager at the Coldwater State Home, where she retired in 1992. She then began working at Journeys in Hillsdale for another 8 years and retired again in 2008.
Brenda was a very active member of the Order of the Eastern Star for 60 years. She also volunteered at the Allen Fire Department for 15 years, served as the Allen Township Treasurer for 12 years, and was a longtime member of the Allen United Methodist Church.
Survivors include three children, Aaron (Melody) Sawdey of Hillsdale, Duane (Nancy) Sawdey of Coldwater and Carenda Wolfe of Kentucky; grandchildren, Shawn, Stephanie, Allison, Amanda and Blake; and 10 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and husband, Arthur; son-in-law, Robert Wolfe; and several brothers and sisters.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the Allen United Methodist Church or the Humane Society of Branch County.
