Jim married Virginia L Vice on March 9, 1958 and shared 66 years with the love of his life.
He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, sibling and community servant. He was the third child born to Robert Franklin White (d. 1970) and Elizabeth Fisher White (d. 2003), and is survived by his brother Robert and his sister Joyce Sanders. His oldest sister, Majorie Sebald, preceded him in death.
He was always proud of his Dutch heritage, as his maternal grandparents, Robert and Bertha Fisher, emigrated from the Netherlands with their large family in 1912.
Jim graduated from Coldwater High School in 1954 and spent his life working and serving his community. He was the owner-operator of Kaiser Electric Inc. from 1965-2002. He served his country as a 13 year member of the Michigan National Guard, retiring as a Captain.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Coldwater for over 50 years, serving on many boards and as the church moderator. He was a life-time member of both the Masonic Lodge and UCT.
One of Jim’s gifts was that of music. It was his passion. He sang with the church choir and was frequently providing special music as a soloist or member of a quartet. He was a 35 year member of the Barbershop Harmony Society and was named “Barbershopper of the Year” in 2022.
Other hobbies included fishing and spending time with family.
Jim and Virginia were loving parents to three children, Vicki White (Steve) of Strongsville, OH, Julie Pierson (Mike – deceased) of Coldwater, and James R White (Renee) of Coldwater. They are blessed with six grandchildren (Bradley White, Lance Pierson, Matthew White, Mark Pierson, Eric White, and Kaci White) and 14 (soon to be 15) great-grandchildren. Jim is also survived by several nieces & nephews.
Jim’s legacy of love, kindness, and resilience will continue to inspire all who knew him. He will be dearly missed, but remembered forever.
The family requests donations in Jim’s memory be given to the First Baptist Church or Maple Lawn Medical Facility.
