MARSHALL, MI (WTVB) – The Coldwater bowlers dropped a couple of close matches on Thursday to the Marshall Red Hawks at Marshall Lanes in their first league contest of the season.
Marshall won the Girls Varsity match 19 to 11. Coldwater split both the regular and baker games. They won the first regular game 720 to 718 but dropped the second 561 to 785 and lost totals 1281 to 1503. The Cardinals won the first Baker game 200 to 161 but lost the second Baker game 164 to 114 and were beaten in the totals 325 to 314.
Coldwater was led by Ashlyn Caswell with a 154 and Alana Houtz with a 150.
Marshall also won the Boys Varsity match 16 to 14. The two teams splitt the regular games. Coldwater took game one 795 to 732, lost the second game 799 to 891, and lost totals 1594 to 1623. The baker games were split with Coldwater losing game one 160 to 154, winning game two 176 to 141 and totals 330 to 301.
The Coldwater boys were led by Brady Hawver with a 193, Lennon Swick a 172 and a 170, and Kahle Weis a 169.
The JV boys took their meet 14 to 6. The JV girls bowled with a mixed team and lost their match 21 to 9.
Quincy and Bronson split in a battle of Branch County rivals on Thursday.
The Orioles won the boys match 16-14. Quincy came out hot throwing 192 and 171 baker games to take all 10 points as they won totals 363-316. Bronson came roaring back taking all five games in singles action notching nine points. The Orioles responded with Tyler White and Ethan Jannsen shooting 190 and 171 games helping secure game two overall by just 11 pins.

Bronson won the girls match 28-2. Lillian Robison had a career high 122 for the Orioles.
